Catherine Laverty

RGN, Dip Ac, ND

Catherine qualified as a Registered Nurse in her native Australia in 2001. Since then she has worked in many specialty areas of nursing including Theatre, Palliative Care (hospice), caring for adults with autism, and Endoscopy. Catherine has nursed in Sydney, London, and Dublin.

Catherine decided to pursue a career in the area of acupuncture and naturopathy as she always had an interest in natural medicine. After obtaining a diploma in Acupuncture and Naturopathy from the College of Naturopathic Medicine (CNM) in 2010, Catherine opened her first practice in Stepaside. After graduating from CNM she was asked to lecture in the undergraduate acupuncture and biomedicine courses and did this for several years.

Catherine treats people with a wide range of health issues including digestive complaints, pain, anxiety/depression, and stress management.

After looking after many women with gynaecological conditions, it became clear that acupuncture has an extremely beneficial role in helping couples trying to conceive both naturally and in conjunction with Assisted Reproductive Techniques (ART). As a result, Catherine developed a special interest in this area and has attended various post-graduate seminars in the areas of acupuncture for fertility and pregnancy.

Acupuncture is completely safe and a non pharmaceutical form of treatment for many ailments during pregnancy, preparing for labour, and postnatally. Catherine often uses her naturopathic knowledge to successfully suggest specific Bach Flower Remedies to complement her acupuncture treatments.
